As it’s quite commonplace now for high street or fast fashion retailers to collaborate with high end designers to produce an exclusive collection, it’s hard for shoppers not to feel a little “collaboration fatigue”. This only means the choice of designer and the execution, interpretation of the designer’s vision, production and pricing of the collection then becomes very critical in determining its success. One recent collaboration we think that has gotten the balance right is the Jean Paul Gaultier for Target Australia collection.
The collection has something for women, men, kids and even for the home. That alone scores big points in generating some buzz to combat “collaboration fatigue”. For us, and our Creative Director, it’s the wearability and the fashion pieces’ 90s throwback style that really score top marks. Below is a mini OOTD (Outfit of the Day) fashion shoot featuring the collection’s denim bandana print shirt that we did to demonstrate our point.
Oh, we also got this very clever and kitschy fun mug. As far as we can tell, it’s already sold out, from our own in store research.
The entire collection is currently at 50% off the original prices. Styles and sizes are dwindling in stock. Visit www.target.com.au to view the collection.
